Primed several small pieces. Some, like the MLG doors came out quite nicely. Others such as the inspection plate shown in photo #3 looked like I was painting over wax. Very frustrating.
I had cleaned these pieces yesterday afternoon with PPG wax and grease remover. I called PolyFiber and spoke to Greg. He explained that when SmoothPrime is cured it is only about 50% solid and 50% air. For this reason it acts like a sponge, soaking up any liquid and releasing it very, very slowly. Greg believes that I attempted to apply primer too soon after cleaning the parts with the de-greaser. The problem parts are probably still out-gassing and caused the problems seen in photo #3. I will sand these pieces and wait 72 hours before priming.
