Final trim and sanding of tank top edge. Sanded all interrior tapes and any areas that peel ply did not fully wet. Sanded all exterrior tapes and seams.
Cut tank top from previously layed up carbon sandwich, 2 bid-1/4" foam- 2 bid. Tank was cut 1-2 inches oversized. Will trim to size after top is permanently bonded to tank.
Stretched 1 mil plastic sheet over bottom side of tank top. Folded plastic around corners and taped on top side. Layed tank top on floor, bottom side up. Spread oversized piece of peel ply over tank top. Taped peel ply to floor with duct tape. Set tank topside down on peel ply/tank top. Painted tank sides with epoxy 2 inch width up from tank top. Layed in 4 bid, 4" wide carbon extending 2" up sides and 2" onto peel ply/tank top. Peel plyed layup on tank interrior. This layup will serve as a cap strip for attaching the tank top.
Layed in 5 small (1" square) tabs on tank side exterrior extending onto tank top/peel ply. These tabs will serve as alignment tabs during tank top construction and will be ground off at completion.
