Brief Description:  Solid rivetting

I could never get the hand squeezer as recommended by the ICP manual to work with the solid rivets. In stead I invested almost 300 euro and bought myself a a rivet gun kit from Aircraft Spruce. Yes, I know, quite a lot of money for these few rivets. Anyhow, after some 20 rivets as a training the work was (and still is) a pleasure. However, in my case the air pressure reduction that came with the rivet gun was not sufficiently accurate so I had to add an external pressure relief to reduce the pressure even further to fit this tiny rivet. No more than approximately 1 bar and a light blast on the trigger is enough. Before the external pressure reduction was added a squeeze on the rivet gun turned the rivet stem into something pretty much like a frried egg that was "melted" and became a part of the sheet. Now, approximately 4-5% of the solid rivets had to be drilled out and redone mostly because of too much blast! Not too bad, I guess.
Now it's time to ship the left wing off to the hangar for storage.
Why not try for something smaller - the doors, perhaps!
