Double charging points were required to run an iPad based OzRunways (RWY) programme, a CASA approved Electronic Flight Bag
The required charger needed to have a 3Amp capacity and needed to deliver a no ripple output, as not to interfere with any of the electronic onboard equipment.
The charger is based on a TI LM 2576 - 3A Step-Down Voltage Regulator (refer to Image 3). I have added an additional low output ripple filter (L2/100uF Cap) to achieve a 10 or more times reduction of output ripple.
The unit is housed in a standard 50x50x40mm diecast box and fitted with USB cables, cut to suit. The unit will be mounted under the subpanel for easy access.
