After another couple of hours effort spread throughout the day, I got the rest of the parts covered in epoxy primer - Picture 1. Still needs a top coat though.
Throughout the day I looked longingly at the sky - wall-to-wall blue - but I could not get the blasted paint to dry quickly enough to allow me to go flying, without feeling gulty :-(
