Brief Description:  More painting!

Today was my first attempt at the water-based interior paint. It was really viscous and didn't seem to need any stirring (although I did). This is diluted with just 5-10 percent of water. This stuff needs 2-3 coats also - more weight.

It seemed to spray really easily, and I ended up force drying with a hairdryer to reduce the elapsed time. Again I was delighted with the result. Not perfect, I'll need to learn to be very rigorous with cleaning. Although I did use a tack cloth first, there were still a few tiny lumps and bumps. I should really filter the paint.

This paint should really be left for 48 hours to harden (and indeed several weeks to reach full hardness). However, I was impatient to start assembling. Inevitably, I ended up damaging the paint surface with clecoes etc. So, I'm either going to have to build delays into all of my construction or accept some damage to the paintwork. Tim did advise me not to paint prematurely, but I knew best ;-)

Eventually, I got the message and turned my attention to finishing off the centre fuselage. I attached the doublers that I had previously forgotten to prime, so were left until later (now). Picture 1 shows the bracket for mounting the fuel pump riveted in place.

Last task was to attach 6 System Block Studs - nuts and bolts. Very difficult reaching both nut and bolt in the centre of the fuselage. And the locknuts were very stiff. I ended up trial fitting the nut onto the bolt to remove the layer of paint on the bolt. Then they were easier to fit.
