When Francis was here, I tried the lights and the trimmer for the first time. Neither worked :-(, so I tackled the lights first. It's a nightmare working in a big public hangar. Continuous aircraft noise, and interruptions from inquisitve club members and others. I grabbed the most useful bodies from the crowd but the committee still took ages to help me diagnose the lighting problem. Wiring was fine, so the solution appears to have been a combination of bending the contact tabs in the fuselage and cleaning black paint out of the wing tip connectors. On reflection I'm pleased I had not installed the nav/strobe lights or these might have been painted black too.
I removed the fuel tank (installed temporarily for the inspection) so that it could go back for more leak detection work. I'm at my wits end on this. I think the count is now up to 14 attempts over 3 months.
I also started to debug the spar pin system which had never worked after the original successful testing during the fuselage construction. More work to be done on this...
