Brief Description:  Personal Stuff

Having owned a Robin R2160 for 8 years, and with retirement approaching, an aircraft project was an opportunity to reduce the cost of flying at the expense of some time, of which I expected to have plenty ;-)

I had wanted to build an aircraft for many years, and indeed had purchased plans for an Acrosport II biplane, in the early 90's. It was obvious that this was far too ambitious a project for me, so I was resigned to waiting until technology reached the point where easy-to-build kits were available.

I had been following the development of the Vans RV-12 from the outset, through the medium of the Vans Airfoce Website (VAF). This looked promising, and given the track record of Vans Aircraft, seemed a low-risk option (both from a technical and a financial perspective). And so it proved.

This log describes how I have build a Vans RV-12 light sport aircraft over a two-year period, in Scotland. The plane is based at Perth Airport, Scone.
