Brief Description:  Fitting the rudder cables

Finally, with the tail and rudder mounted, I put the rudder jig into the cockpit to lock the rudder pedals, stretched the cables, marked the cable terminators and drilled and prepped them. Not quite so easy drilling and filing steel parts. The filing took off some primer, so I used my handy Halfords aerosols to reprime and paint the parts grey, to match the rest of the interior. I'll mount these when I put the tail in place for the last time.

While on tidy-up tasks, I riveted on the canopy guides that had been clecoed in place for weeks. Six rivets and that job could be ticked off too.

I also finished up some other work on the canopy. I had previously cut back and re-epoxied a small section of the fairing that had not adhered to the glazing. It took a while to sand this back smooth. I also had another attempt at squashing the tube attached to the opening handle, to make it just a little stuff. Lots of brute force with the vice made virtually no difference. I am nervous of wrecking the tube, so I think I'll leave it as it is, and see how it works out in practice.

Last job today, and it's been a long one, was to add epoxy to fill the rivet holes in the cowling - where the cooling duct was attached.
