I picked up the brake master cylinder today from the mail office. Had to pay VAT and a handling charge, even though it was for a "warranty" replacement.
I started to fit the replacement cylinder, but gave up when it got too dark, and it was bitterly cold so I didn't need much of an excuse. Once I managed to get my head, shoulders and both arms under the panel, I put in the pin holding the piston to the bracket. The split pin to hold it all together was a bridge too far, though. Had a hell of job extricating my body from the bowels of the plane. And I'll have to do it all again to get the split pin in.
Latest problem now is several instances of engine mounting bolts working loose in service. This is going to be a hassle to fix. I'll probably need to consult Tim on the best way forward. Let's see what Vans have to say first.
