Brief Description: Consideration on how to fix flaperon brackets
Tim and I were both unhappy with the solid rivets that I squeezed for the actuation bracket on one of the flaperons. The holes are so close to the angle that the heads would not lie flat against the surface. Investigation of a couple of other web sites revealed that some folk had driven the rivets from the other side. I thought this was worth a try, so I drilled out the original rivets.
Picture one shows the bracket with the rivets removed. The bracket is looking a bit the worse for wear so I'll grind out the scuff marks, and re-prime it.
The second picture shows the holes in the spar after the rivets had been drilled out. These still look OK. I'm going to have to grind the edge of one of my squeezer dies so that I can have another go at getting into the corner to squeeze these rivets.
