Brief Description: Yet more wing disassembly
With the help of the gardener, I was able to move the left wing off its trolley onto a pair of stands. And with a bit of juggling around, I now have the workbench, the wing, the fuselage on its undercarriage, and the wing trolley all side-by-side in the garage. See Picture 1. No room to swing a drill, let alone a cat. Hope Sandra doesn't need to get into the freezer for a few days.
I spent the rest of the day tapping rivet mandrels out, then drilling out the remains. I broke the first pin-punch (due to overuse), so I am pleased I had the foresight to buy two. I also probably annoyed the hell out of the neighbours with the compressor running continuously while I drilled out the rivets.
End result is two wing panels removed, and a third panel partially removed. Apart from the previously noted dents, I just made one real mistake. The drill slipped while I was lying on the floor underneath the wing (where I spent several hours!) and I now have a random hole in the underside of the wing. I'm hoping Tim will show leniency ;-) I'll just have to become proud of my unique customisation.
