Brief Description:  Preparing Horns and Counterbalance

I managed to forget to photograph these steps. Essentially we are final drilling the control horns that sit astride the box spar, and the counterbalance arm which passes through the box spar.

The control horns are oversized and need a shim to pack them out - lots of discussion on the web about this. So, final drilling involved positioning and drilling the shims too.

Finally, it's time to prime the tailplane spars (all the rest was done ages ago), and the inside of the tailplane skins.

I managed to erect the paint booth in 45 minutes flat. Painting was another matter. My small paint spray gun failed to work again, after my "maintenance". I resorted to using the big one I was given as a present. What with not using glasses, and a filthy visor, I found it difficult to inspect the quality of the painting. It looked fine at the time, but subsequent inspection showed it to be a bit patchy - lots of paint though, so problems are only aesthetic.
