Brief Description:  Prepped AST control horns and and hinges

I was going to start priming the AST skins and ribs but decided to prepare the remaining components so that I could complete the entire assemblies.

First step was to countersink the AST horns. By now I had acquired some "scrap" so it was easy to drill a trial hole and then adjust the countersink drill. As a result the outcome looked good. Picture 1 shows work in progress.

There's stuff in the Vans Web Site (VAF) about folk misunderstanding the preparation of the hinges which connect the ASTs to the Horizontal Stabiliser. After much studying and measuring I took the plunge and cut four hinge halves to size. Only two of them need to be drilled at this stage. Vans handily provides a template which fits between the hinge eyelets to simplify this. I found it difficult to ensure the template was snug up against the eyelets. As a result I am sure the holes are correct along the length, but could be very slightly out from front to back. We shall see. Picture 2.
