Brief Description:  Repaint the fuselage centre section

Today I struggled to build the motivation to move forward from yesterday's fiasco. However, I eventually made it to the garage and set to again masking the fuselage, prior to giving it another coat of paint. Meanwhile, I had resolved to include the space between the "towers" so I had to mask the brass bushings that hold the wing pins. Slow progress as I had to dig out the compasses to cut circles of masking tape 2.2 inches across.

Finally it was all done, and the rain had stopped so I pushed the wings outside, and re-erected the paint booth. A few minutes later the painting was done, and I had to clean everything up. I double checked everything carefully, with a torch, before attacking the masking. I eventually decided all was well, ripped all of the masking off and dismantled the booth. At that point I realised that I should have painted the bulkhead at the front because this would be visible. Arghhhh... And this has several snap bushings (grommets) that will need to be removed or masked. Arghhhh again. It will have to wait for another day.

In the remaining daylight I tackled the 7 nutplates that I had drilled out yesterday. Each had two rivet tails stuck in the holes. With some patience I managed to remove these with the squeezer so I could put them back into "stock".

It's the end of the week and time for reflection. Although it was a frustrating week, I had completed the forward fuselage section and virtually everything was satisfactorily painted. Time to move on...
