Beautiful day today, should be out flying and not stuck in the garage. However I did give the wings an airing - pushed them outside the garage to provided much needed space for erecting my big paint booth.
Picture 1 shows yesterday's progress in assembling the lower forward fuselage components. The sloping tunnel panels and the centre floor are all pretty substantial parts and I discovered why!
Picture 2 shows two of four engine mounts riveted to those side panels, 18 rivets per bracket. I'm a bit surprised these are not solid rivets squeezed before assembly, maybe the flanges get in the way.
Picture 3 shows the fuselage centre section masked up for interior painting. Took a couple of hours to do the masking, and another 45 minutes to erect the spray booth. All for a few minutes painting - they say it is all in the preparation ;-)
I applied the epoxy primer - again, a light tack coat followed by a couple of coats. The result was super - but everything in the garage now seems to have acquired a white dusting - especially the garage floor, which will no doubt transport itself to the carpets in the house.
