I built this unit to store all the stuff I was afraid to throw away. Interestingly I hardly ever had to retrieve any of this stuff, so could probably have been more forceful with my clean-out. Basically, I have had to forefeit maybe 3ft of space along the entire length of one side wall. This shelf unit, two freezers, and three dustbins took up the space. I suppose I could have located the dustbins outside.
* I did use the top of the shelf unit to store components and completed assemblies. I also extensively used the top of the chest freezer as an additional workbench for plans and other work. And I used the top of one of the dustbins for holding the cowlings while I sanded them - mostly outside. *
