Brief Description:  Some first flight analysis

I pulled the cowling off and found nothing seriously amiss other than the first signs of chafing in a couple of places, fixed I hope with some tie-wraps. A very small oil leak, noticed previously on taxi trials was present at the oil tank, and will need investigation. Nothing fell off - thanks to Locktite!

The video of the first flight was a partial success. In my haste I had not ensured that the camera was mounted horizontally, so the video is "squint". Also, the sound track is missing, so I must have a problem with the audio wiring.

By contrast, the Dynon captures a multitude of parameters every second. I downloaded all of this to my laptop, and spent a happy hour or two drawing graphs of altitude, airspeed, VSI, pitch angle, roll angle, OAT, EGT/CHT, RPM, fuel flow, and heading.

Stalls (not at gross obviously) were recorded around 35 knots. Maximum speed recorded was 137 knots. Maximum speed in level flight at 5000 rpm was 119 knots. Note this was at just above zero degree C. At the point of touchdown the plane was at 45 knots.

Average rate of climb from zero to 2800 feet was 935 fpm.

75 knots climbs resulted from 5000 rpm at full throttle. 1650 rpm was recorded at the stalls. Vne coincided with the maximum allowable 5800 rpm.

Pitch attitude at 75 knot climb is around 10 degrees.

Highest EGT recorded was around 1400 degrees F. CHTs were steady at around 200 degrees F.
