Fuzzy picture (1), but you can see where I have reinstalled the corner of fibreglass. It slots forwards (to the left) and is retained by a single screw on the aft face (right).
Unfortunately I cut the left side (fore-aft) slot too far up, so I still cannot get an Allen key on a torque wrench directly onto the cap bolt. The access is however just about big enough to get an 8mm key in. I did not adjust the torque, but have again applied torque seal so that I can see what is going on.
I also looked at the gascolator. I'm not certain where the leak is coming from. I hope it is the drain valve. Ever the optimist, I removed this, applied fuelproof thread seal and reinstalled it. We'll see soon enough.
Finally I put the lower cowl on for the umpteenth time. Prior to buttoning up the top half, I checked the electrics and was disappointed to find a flat battery. I have no idea what caused this, so I left a battery charger on overnight. Fix the symptom, if not effect a cure.
