The permit paperwork arrived today from the LAA, via the CAA. Dai is my approved flight test pilot. He will have to conduct the first flight solo, after which he can take an "observer". The schedule calls for a minimum of 5 hours flying, followed by a "full independent handling check by a test pilot qualified in handling evaluation, acceptable to the LAA for this specific purpose".
Francis has called out three specific areas for feedback:
* spinner clearance (it's only 1/8 inch, and he wants to be sure it doesn't not foul the cowling) * throttle return spring - the friction nut is barely able to stop the throttle moving * effectiveness of the EFIS pitch trim indicator
