Brief Description:  Forward Bulkheads

Installed the 902 Bulkheads, and trimmed to fit longerons. Cleco'd in Gear Attach Web (9101), but first, had to remove the 902 to get the gear attach web in there. Would have been nice to tell me that. Drilled and cleco'd the 902 to the 9101's on both sides. Drilled the top and bottom tabs on the 902 to the longerons. Made the 996B Spacer's and the 996C angles (one extra, I'll explain) I drilled all the holes except the bottom one on the angle, as specified, but when I test fit the angle to the gear attach web, I saw how it attached to the lower longeron, and because I cut the angle a little too short (1/8th), the hole through the lower longeron wouldnt have edge distance on the angle. So, I made another and made sure I had the proper distance. This is the GEAR ATTACH WEB, so it sounds important not to cut corners. Then I made the straps, first using some 1 inch alum bar I found, then, after cutting to length, but not width, I checked in the misc. bag of bar and sure enough, some 3/4 inch bar. I sure miss Smitty being ahead of me and finding all this stuff out. Anyway, hope that 1 inch bar doesn't need the full length, otherwise, another order from Vans for me. Then I followed the directions and figured out the order and placement of all these parts. The one thing Van's doesn't warn you about is the spacer. It must fit between the longerons between the gear attach web and the skin. If it's a little too tall, it won't fit. And if you don't check, and rivet it to the gear attach web before checking, it will be tough to trim then. So check it, trim it, then rivet it. The instructions don't specify checking that before riveting. So, I need to trim mine, clean them up, prime them a little, then I'll rivet and reinstall into the airplane. Got my sticks today from CH products.
