Brief Description:  To the Firewall!

Formed the bend in the right forward skin and match drilled some bulkhead holes inside. Made the straps for the corner rib and drilled for the step with the fly cutter in the hand drill. No problems. Drilled both longerons to the fuselage, including the ones forward of the 904 bulkhead by clamping the longeron to a 2x2 and drilling. Made the straps for the 904 bulkhead to longeron attachment, messed one up and remade it. Clamped on firewall after scratching my head over which flange was the firewall flange. Figured it must mean the aluminum flange riveted on that matches up with the second set of holes, and the stainless steel flange goes into the first set of holes. That leaves the 5/8ths distance from the end of the side skins to the face of the firwall, as specified on the next page of instructions. Anyway, got it where I think it goes, cleco'd on the forward bottom skin, and lined it all up, re clamped the clamps on the firewall, and then drilled the two alignment holes on either side of the bottom of the fuselage, bottom skin, to firewall flange. Thought about drilling the firewall completely, but want to double check I have this guy on right before I do anything permanant. The fuselage is almost full length now, just about 4 more feet for the engine and a couple for the tail. I think it will fit in my shop just fine. It's pretty big though, it's no miata.
