Brief Description:  Aft Fuse riveting, center fuse drilling

Swapped the center fuse around on the table, and laid it bottom down on some 2x4's from my wing cradle to hold the skin and cleco's off the table. Attached the forward section of 704 bulkhead with some cheapo bolts from the hardware store, chucked them in the drill and used my file to skinny them up a little. The blocks I borrowed from Warren, another builder, work great. Perfect fit. Drilled the 904H side doublers after a little consternation on which end went forward. If you use the cutouts where the wing spars have to fit in, its a no brainer. Then, tried to understand the note about which holes to countersink through the skin and into the bulkhead. I'm not sure I understand. I'll fire off an email to Van's. I think I understand now, after reading the web site on the most common fuselage questions. I think they want me to dimple the forward bottom skin, which is on the outside, and countersink both the center bottom skin and 904 spar. I think it would be better to dimple both skins, and countersink the 904 to accept that dimple. That way, it will still be flat on the outside to accept the stiffeners. Some places need double flush rivets, that is, smooth on both sides of the rivet, and in that case, the countersinks on both sides of the 904 may be too much and make the 904 too thin, but in those cases, I think the recommended method may be best. I asked Van's if I could dimple dimple countersink the skin, skin, 904 respectively. We'll see what they say. So, not wanting to study the plans to figure that out, I hammered out some more rivets on the aft fuselage.
