Brief Description:  Blind Riveting Stiffeners and Spar

Brian and I blind riveted the stiffeners at the center as we rolled the skins together and cleco'd the trailing edge. The stiffeners were then blind riveted to the spar. This was a more difficult task than anticipated. There was very little room to get my arms between the skins, even with them peeled back. Getting leverage to squeeze the riveter was difficult. A pneumatic rivet puller is now on order.

Skins were slightly separated at the lower trailing edge so that flush rivets could be squeezed. The trailing edge was then stuck together by pulling the release paper on the 3m double stick tape. The trailing edge was cleco'd as the skins were stuck down.

Lastly, the rudder horn was squeezed between the skins at the base of the rudder. One rivet needed to be drilled out because it was interfering with the insertion of the horn.
