Brief Description:  Bending Trim Tab

After bending the ears on the trim tab I can truthfully say that the practice piece was well worth the time spent. The bends on both sides turned out great. I decided to do the trim tab bends first so I could really get this figured out before going on to the elevator bends. If I mess up the trim tab at least it would be a lot cheaper to replace that the elevator. First thing I did was put a 2X4 up against the trim tab while it was clecoed to the trim tab spar. Then I made the necessary cuts. Then after marking my bend lines I used some double sided scotch tape that I picked up from WalMart ( the red kind in the first pic.) on the top and bottom of the trim tab as well as the bottom of the wedge inside and both sides came out with great results. I really took my time with this so I wouldn't screw it up. I am now ready to move on to the left elevator bend.
