I constructed the bending brake today. I was going to use two 2X8 boards but I had one that was sort of warped so I just put hinges on the straight board and attached it to a work bench. I also used a 3/16" wooden dowel rod for the bend radius. I've read a few build logs where the builders used 1/8" and 1/4" dowels and felt they were too small and large respectively so I went with the happy medium and came out with great results. I don't know if it made any difference but when bending the elevator I would do a little bit on one side and then flip it over and do a little more and I did this over again until I had it all the way. I also put the bend radius up close to the hinge before bending.
