I removed the blue plastic around the rivet holes using a small soldering iron that had the point rounded down to keep it from gouging the aluminum. After smoothing the edges with a pneumatic die grinder equiped with a fine 1 inch scotch brite wheel, I used the pneumatic rivet squeezer to dimple all of the holes around the edges being careful not to dimple the six holes on either side of the VS that will later be fitted with nut plates that will attach the empennage fairing. I finished the rest of the dimples with the DRDT-2 dimpling machine. Again, before I dimpled the skin I went over the holes on the inside skin with a maroon scotch brite pad for primer prep.
