The Eagle R&D provided drive pulley has the magnets for the allternator glued in. It works, but there have been many instances were the magnets come lose and move around inside the drive pulley. Mike Henkoski came up with the idea to install a Harley davidson magnet ring into the pulley. The pulley ID has to be enlarged by about 1/8" and the HD magnet ring has to be modified. Its OD has to be machined on a lathe, then the back plate has to cut off and then the ring will be srrunk into the drive pulley using a 10/1000s press. The srinking is the tricky part sice the ring has a tendency to get stuck half way in. I modified an arbor press to use it as an insertion tool to feed the cold magnet ring into the 400F drive pulley. The arbor press is not pressing the magnet ring, it just assures that the ring is inserted parallel and does not get stuck.
I made such a modification for 3 other builders and thought I might as well do one for myself.
