Brief Description:  fixing fuel tank leaks

Eagle R&D came up with a solution to seal the leak around the threaded inserts on my tanks and have tried out the process on a few tanks.
The process is to install a 5/16" bolt into the insertwith the leak and use an aceteline torch to bring the bolt up to red hot cndition, which takes about 30-35 min of heating. The heat travels down into the insert, re-melts the plastic around the insert and seals he leak.
Took the coverplate out of my right lower tank and had it sit in the full sun for a few hours and blew aur trough the tank to make absolutely sure that all gasoline vapors are gone. Brought the 5/16th bolt to red hot condition and let it cool down again. Put the cover plate back on, presurized the tank with a few PSI and used a soapy water solution to detect leaks. The leak was gone!

Reinstalled the cover plate on the right bottom tank and filled up the tank with gasoline and had it sit over night. Still no sign of a leak.
