Brief Description: Elevator/Stabilizer Work pt. 11
Prepped right elevator skin flanges for Pro-Seal; cleaned skin and tip flanges. Mixed Pro-Seal and applied to mating surfaces, including counterweight. Installed tip; clamped and clecoed in place. Squeezed 18 blind rivets with Surebonder Riveting Tool, which began to fail again; five mandrels broke long. Swapped nose piece to modified short piece; mandrels still broke long, only jaw-sized chunks. Documented and informed Cleaveland Tool that the third Surebonder tool had begun to fail just as the previous two had. They informed me that after inspecting my returns, they stopped selling the tool based on sub-par tool quality and my experiences. They offered a refund which I declined; they provided three tools for the price of one, and several years of work made them worth the purchase. Ordered a new blind riveting tool from Amazon on their recommendation. Sanded the horizontal stabilizer tips and added the second layer of filler.
