Brief Description: Right Elevator - 04 - Folded Trailing Edge
- Purchased door hinges for trailing edge jib and a 3/4" pipe to roll leading edges. Put hinges on jib and cut pipe to size. - Bent (folded) trailing edge of right elevator. I put all my weight on the jib and it still didn't bend enough. I used a straight edge, per the instructions and it is really close. I'll probably work on it some more later. - Put right elevator structure inside skin and final drilled all holes. - Took right elevator structure apart and deburred all holes in skeleton and skin. - Countersunk the right elevator spar where the root rib attaches (E-702 to E-709). This allows the elevator horn to sit flush against the spar. - Deburred right elevator skeleton edges and dimpled all holes. - Had to use pop-rivet dimpler and Vicegrip dimpler at the trailing edge of the ribs.
*** NOTE: Still need a dimple die and countersink for the elevator counter balance weight and skin.
