Brief Description:  CH5-01: Started Making Fuselage Sides Jigs

Decided to take a break from bulkheads and start on chapter 5. For the most part this is pretty straight forward wood work but the FJA is a bit tedious. For me, a little more difficult because I don't have a decimal tape measure. So I was converting everything to 1/32nd or 1/16th. I actually think this is a waist of time. By the time you measure it within a 32nd, makr it, cut it and sand it... you will have induced at least +/- 1/16th error on either side. I was using a jig saw with a 1/8" wide blade and no matter how steady your hand and how slow you go, there is going to be variation. Then sanding to the line isn't going to be perfect either...The Band Waw I was going to buy last week and talked myself out of...yahhh - I should have bought it. So far I would have used it nearly every day.

OBTW, the plans call for 2 pieces of 1"x8". They don't specify 8' or 10'. I could get all but the 1.5" x 8" and 1.5" x 22" (FJB and FJD's) out of 2 - 1" x 8" x 8's. I bought 4 - 1" x 8"s and a few 1" x 6" for other projects. I ended up using one of the 1" x 6"s for the FJB and FJD's. Looking ahead there are some other jig requirements so I figured I will use the extras pieces and then some.
