The magnetometer mounting caused me quite a few headaches. We were getting heading errors from the G3 X, regularly. I thought that the magnetometer was generating these errors. So the picture illustrated here is the first location that I used to install the magnetometer. It has been moved three more times since this photo was taken. As it turns out the problem was not generated by the magnetometer. Rather, the GTN 650 was the cause of all the problems! Which went away after Garmin replaced the unit.
