Brief Description:  Proseal

My order of Proseal from Van's arrived yesterday so today I decided to try it out. This was the first time I have ever use Proseal. My conclusions are it is as messy as everyone said it would be, MEK is your friend and next time I should were a chemical mask. I got a little light headed, I don't know if it was from the MEK or the Proseal but next time a mask is in order. The other thing I might do is order a sealant gun. I think that can be a big help. I have watched the assembly guys at work use a sealant gun and it is very simple and clean. Now granted these guys do this a lot and are very good at it. One would say they are professionals at what they do. And they use a really nice pneumatic gun, but I think for as much sealing as I have to do I can not justify a gun like that. So I did a little looking around a saw on eBay I could get a gun for under $100. I can justify that much and I can resale it when I am through with it.

I sealed up the access door doubler and nut plates and the float access hole nut plates. It wasn't too hard to do but I wasn't working in confined space either. I think it came out okay, only time will tell.

I also bent the wire for my float today. That's were I found trouble. I installed the doubler for the float wrong. It was clocked wrong, I'm not sure how I managed that but none the less it was wrong. After scratching my head and beating myself up for a while I came up with an easy fix. I just re-drilled the holes in the float flange to match what I needed to get the float clocked in the right position. The only problem I see with doing this is if and when some one has to change that float someday they are going to be wondering what the heck I was thinking when I did that.
