While building the rudder, I found a couple things: 1. If you set the gap on the squeezer too tight, it won't make full power, so start a little bigger gap if needed and tune the gap tighter. 2. If riveting steel to aluminum, put the manufactured head through from the thinner material side and shop head on the thick side, i.e. aluminum to steel, insert the rivet through the aluminum and shop head on the steel; it makes a much tighter fit and doesn't dimple the aluminum. (see photos) Brent and Ryan “helped” me. I showed them how to match drill, cleco and rivet with LP4-3 rivets using air tools. It's actually a lot of fun to build, especially with company and good power tools; I can't over emphasize how valuable and much more quickly the work goes with the right tools.
