Brief Description:  Aligning the Canard

06/30/2008 I marked all of the center lines on the fuselage and canard. I clamped on the top half of the firewall for alignment purposes. I centered and leveled the canard, set the incident to 0° on the G template and measured the distance from the canard tip inside corner (at elevator) to the center of the firewall (bottom). Both are exactly 119.6"
07/04/2008 I rechecked the level and realized that the left tip was about 1/16" low. It is level until about 1.5' from the left tip then is is about 0.3° sloping low. I asked the Cozy Mailing list about the criticality of this. They basically said that I was being to picky!
07/05/2008 I started using a straight board to level the canard. I also realized that I had 0° to 0.6° incident tolerance. I set the tolerance to an average 0.4°. I drilled the holes for the attach tabs. When I drilled the left one, it was about 1/16" high. I corrected that.
07/06/2008 I drilled the alignment tab holes to accept a 3/8" bushing. I will use a AN4 bolt to fasten the alignment tabs as noted in the FAQs. I had to drill the bushings out to accept the AN4 bolts.
07/07/2008 I layed down 5 layers of BID on the top of the canard and the alignment tab.
07/09/2008 Cleaned up and sanded down the top layup. Drilled the 1/4" hole to match the AN4. I layed down 4 layers of Bid on the bottom of the canard onto the back of the alignment tab.
07/15/2008 I received the new aluminum tubing that I made some bushings from. I installed two washers between the left alignment tab and F28 to make sure the incident is correct (~0.4°)
07/19/2008 I installed an alum bushing into the alignment tabs and installed a nutplate on an alum sheet and floxed it to the alignment tab. I floxed in the alum bushing in the doubler. I put duct tape on the attach tabs and made a flox bed to make a good pad for the
