During the initial power up and configuration of the Dynon Serial ports, the Transponder and the VPX were not communicating.
The VPX needed the license key, which I had to get from Dynon. The license key for the display with serial number 12435 is 4CCA74. The license was registered on the display and the serial port configured. It is now functioning correctly.
The Transponder was configured appropriately; however, it was not communicating. The Dynon was registering transmitting data packets but not return packets and no errors. I checked the power to the harness and it checked out OK. I then went back to check the data TX and RX line connections. I discovered that I had reversed the TX and RX. After correcting by reversing the pins in the harness, it started to communicate normally.
I also realized that I had not run the ground wire from the base mount of the transponder. I ran it to G2 ground connection.
