Brief Description:  Installing the Rudder Pedals

07/31/2008 I trial fit the rudder pedals that I purchased from Dennis Oehlman. I enlarged the holes from 5/8" to 3/4"; however, the holes did not line up well. I floxed in the holes and put 2 BID over the flox.
08/01/2008 I opened up the 3/4" holes again using the 12" 1/4" drill to make sure they were straight. I put the hole saw on the drill bit. It worked great. The rudder pedals are now fit into the holes. I removed them to finish step 5
08/21/2008 I cut out some clark foam for the rudder bearing pads and floxed them into place.
08/22/2008 I cleaned up the rudder bearing pads to prepare for covering with 4 layers of BID. I made two alum plates with nut plates riveted. I used the rudder pedals to position them correctly and I used 5 min epoxy to attach them to the rudder bearing pads.
08/24/2008 I reinstalled the rudder pedals. I am missing the CS13, so I ordered the tubing to make some.
08/25/2008 I started to plan out the details of the installation of the brake cylinders. Dennis calls for a direct connection of the cylinders to his pedals; however, Matco specifically says that direct connection is not good enough. I devised a scheme to be able to
08/29/2008 I cut one of the CS13 bushings. When I installed in the rudder pedals, I realized why I should have waited until I got the bushing to install the nut plate. The nut plate is not square with the rudder pedal tubes which places the bolt at an angle and a bi
09/01/2008 I removed the pilot's side bearing pad for the rudder pedals and straightend out the foam. I reinstalled it so that it is straight. The passenger's side is OK. I tried to drill the holes I nthe ruddre pedal interconnect tubes, but my drills could not hand
09/04/2008 I drilled the holes in the rudder pedal tubes. I had to learn how to use oil to cool the drill bit. I installed the pedals into place.
09/05/2008 I cut out a 1" Channel of 2024T3 to form a bracket for the brake cylinder and the lever connecting the rudder pedal and the cylinder. I cut the walls of the channel out in the mi
