Today we learned a lot if things, we continued assembling the toolbox and some mistakes happened, which helped us to know how to deal with them while doing our job.
We put # 40 cleclos with cleclo pliers on the extremes of the body of the box and use a #40 bit and drill to make holes on its surface. A welding iron was used to remove the protective plastic from the pieces and prevent the bit from touching and sticking in it. In this step we noticed that some of the clecos we used were scratching the aluminum surface so we had the precaution of placing only clecos with rubber and not causing these visual defects.
After drilling the extremes of the body the dimpling process was done with a die 3/32 and caution was taken to do it on the right side since they are equal sides, the side of the dimple die must match the side of the surface that we want have this form.
Then we made riveting using a hand tool and 3/32 flat head rivets. The box was forming and we also inspected the rivets already placed with the correct gage # 3
The hinge is clamped to the body and lid of the box to drill it with a #40 bit. After drilling those parts we deburred on both sides.
While doing this step we had to understand the manual instruction since it is explained in detail how the hinge must be placed in the body and in the lid; all the teams had errors because we did not follow the instruction correctly.
We made dimpling and at the end we discovered that the two parts of the hinge were totally deformed and very curved, so when placed it on the top and body the holes were not alienated. We have two theories of what could have happened: first, we made the mistake of not placing clecos when we drilled the hinge, we only used clamps and in the second time when doing the hinge dimpling the force is too much and the aluminum is very thin and the Subjection was not the correct one.
