Brief Description:  Built Fuselage Jig

Spent the last few days constructing a Fuselage jig to hold the QB Fuselage when it arrives. I decided I wanted to be able to rotate the assembly for easy access. I started with an engine stand from Harbor Freight Aviation Supply. First I had to modify the upright so it was vertical. My plan was to attach the head and tail fixtures with 2X4s so I could adjust the length of the jig just in case I ever get crazy enough to build another airplane... I cut and welded up the tail jig from 1 1/2" by 3" steel I had from another project. The 8 "boxes" to attach the 2X4s were made out of "L" brackets from the hardware store welded together. Each has two 1/2" bolts to fix the 2X4 in place when the correct length is set. I'll have to wait for the QB Fuselage to get here (hopefully next week) to finish the attach brackets between the jig and the fuselage. All this welding was my first real training on the wire feed welder I bought several years ago. Many of the welds aren't too pretty, but by the end, they were looking OK. I've welded with Oxy-Acetelene since I was a kid, but this arc welding stuff is really different.
