Brief Description: Primed Rudder Stiffeners and Riveted to Left Skin
Primed Stiffeners with Sanchem #2 sealer. Riveted stiffeners to left skin using "C" frame dimpler. This worked quite well using the special Cleaveland back rivet set and a mushroom set on the bottom. I just adjusted the table hight to set the mushroom set just proud of the carpet. The dimple dies left a particulary large hole in the skin even though I used a #41 reamer to "match drill" the holes. In my experience so far, the thinner the aluminum, the more the hole will grow when dimpling. This resulted in a riveting operation that was very sensitive to having everything square. The "C" frame made this easy. Advice: be sure to set the last (trailing edge) rivet completely, or it will interfere with the shop head on the other skin during assembly.
