Riveted ribs to the front spar. Linda and I had some trouble getting good rivets in the lower (root) spar pieces. Ended up using -4 rivets instead of the -5 called for in the plans. Careful measurement indicated all three rivets were still set to spec even though they started out a little short. The -5 rivets were longer that standard spec, and they kept tipping over as we set them. The problem was aggravated by difficulty accessing the shop head side. We ended up clamping the bucking bar in the bench vise and usindg an offset cupped set on the manufactured head. Cleacod the skin on the VS substructure and checked for best fit skin alignment. Looked pretty good. I found that removing the blue plastic helped me to see any imperfections in the skin to substructure fit. Will remove the rear spar to start the skin rivets tomorrow.
