Brief Description: Finish dimpling the rudder parts
I first modified (ground down) my 3/32" vise grip dimpler to gain access to a couple more holes at the aft end of the Rudder ribs. I then made a close quarters female dimple die by grinding and drilling / countersinking a piece of 1/4" by 1" steel strap I had. It works OK, but I gained some appreciation for the spring back dimple dies I've been using. The female die is more than just a countersunk hole. I found that I need to clean up the dimple the the microstop countersink tool to get a good fit. I also found that I can use the standard male dimple die with my 4" no hole yoke in the pnuematic squeezer. I used the female pop rivet dimple die backed by a small washer to make a close quarters pneumatic dimpling set. I just stuck everything together with some heavy grease (EZTURN). See photo. Works pretty well. I'm sure I will use this set up in the future.
