I removed all the blue plastic from the HS and right and left elevator this weekend. This job should of been completed prior to putting this up on the wall in August of 2005. Just for your information any cleaning supplies used back then prior to painting the inside surface of the skin get under the plastic on the outside and can effect the metal surface. Consquesntly, remove the plastic and clean up the finished parts prior to storing your project. "Prior to Storing."
I have a real good fit on the left elevator, however, the right elevator will require some filing on the counter balance weight and the HS. I'm sure it will work fine but time will tell. I remember back when I was building the right elevator it did not fit together as good as the left elevator and I had considered ordering a new right elevator outboard rib to see if that would help but I just went ahead and riveted the right elevator together. I will take a few photo's on my next trip to the shop for you to see what I'm talking about. For the record, I only need about 1/16" more clearance.
