Brief Description: Reinstall nose gear to engine mount
With the doubler welded and the engine mount powder coated again, it was time to reinstall the nose gear. I regreased the bearing inserts and installed them into the mount. Then I attached the nose gear. Aligning the bolt holes took a bit of work but eventually I got the bolts in and tightened and installed the cotter pins. Similarly, I installed the shock strut and used a cotter pin after the bolt was tightened. Since the mount is not on the plane, I can't use it's weight to help compress the rubber shock rings, so I used ratcheting cargo straps instead. The extra thickness of the doubler meant a little more compression, so I ended up using four straps (only 2 are in the picture) to distribute the loads. Once I had compressed the unit enough, I was able to install the keeper and its bolt and remove all the straps. Compliance with the service bulletin is complete.
