Brief Description:  Finish left step, then right step

So I took the pictures from yesterday and then a picture of one of the plugs and the jig for pushing it to depth in the step tube (see Image 3). Then I set about finishing the left step, which involved pre-drilling the inboard mount and then positioning it and final-drilling it to the rib. After that, I installed the bolts, torqued them, and then installed and torqued the bolt for the step mount.

I started the right step with the inboard mount, in the same fashion as the left side. I didn't notice a difference between starting with the step bolt or the inboard mount other than the right side seemed a little easier. In any case, with the mount bolted and torqued, I positioned the step and jigged it in similar fashion to the way I set up the left step. Once jigged in place, I used the drill guide to drill the step, then removed the step so I could remove the guide before replacing the step and installing and torquing the bolt.

Somewhere in there I was interrupted to help a friend install a new window in his Cherokee (hours not included in this entry). Since I had a late lunch date, I finished up by cleaning up some of the routings, installing the right baggage floor with clecoes, installing the battery mount, and otherwise making the project presentable for Armed Forces Day this coming Saturday.
