Brief Description:  Fabricate VP-X power cables, panel start

Since the last entry, I have had to service the lift after it got stuck. I also went to fabricate new cables for the VP-X boxes (power is on the opposite side from the VP-200 so the old cables didn't reach), and found I could not locate the components. Since moving to the new hangar, I had not taken the time to organize all the small stuff, so I spent the last few weeks sorting everything out. Now I'm back on track and with the lugs and cable in hand, I fabricated the leads. Both boxes take power from the battery passthrough at the firewall, so two #8 cables are crimped and soldered into a single lug. The other end of both cables has a #8 lug soldered. After passing the harness through the panel ribs, the end covers are assembled and the connections made.

Then I connected the master relay pin (only one this time, since the VP-X boxes do not control the master) and turned the unit on. Everything lit up except the GRT units. Not sure why but will contact Aerotronics to find out which connections I'm missing. When I connected the backup battery and flipped the backup switch, the units came up so it's sure to be something I haven't connected yet. Otherwise, everything connected operated fine and those things not connected showed the appropriate failure indications. The new panel is a go!
