Brief Description:  Overhead wiring

After giving Dr. Kelley a tour of the project, complete with sitting in the cockpit and making airplane noises, I turned my attention to the overhead again. I began by installing conduit for the oxygen distributor harnesses. They, together with the three antenna coax, power lead for the lighting, and the ovehead speaker wires, were too much for the tube down to the panel so I decided to route them aft and then back up the tunnel. The section of conduit between the pairs of distributors also carries the power and ground wires for the lighting. I finished the power wiring by crimping the main line to the line going down the side of the cabin top. At the other end, I added a lead long enough to go down the tube with the antennae coax and some extra to route under the panel. The speaker wire is already made up and will be disconnected from the test speaker and added to the bundle. Most of the morning was spent making up the ground harness. Ground will come from the shield on the line going down the cabin top side ( the second wire there is the power returning from the relay to the dome light). The main line was run to the forward distributors with taps spliced in for the four lights and the four relays and a tap for the dome light. In the second image you can see that I have test fit the console so that I can see where I need to tape the loose wires while the console is glued; note the wires for the two rear post lights are routed through the overhead and aft of that (out of frame) is the dome light wires. The other wiring is accessible through the access panels and will just be taped out of the way until it is time to make their connections.
