With a little time to kill today and the connectors finally arriving from Mouser (TNC angle connectors for the GPS antennae on top of the overhead console), I took some useless RG-58 and made up a test cable. Using it, I placed a GPS antenna outside the hangar and connected it to the Garmin processors to test the GPS system. Success! My system no longer thinks it is in Billings, MT. I'm not ready to activate the XM subscription and test the GDL 69 yet, but I can at least test my antenna installations as I make them.
