My buddy, Myron, was in town today waiting for his Dad to go into surgery but it was postponed until tomorrow, so he gave me a call and joined me at the hangar. I let him finish the dimpling of the structure for the mid-fuselage skins. Meanwhile, I tackled the mount for the ELT. I modified a stock Van's mount so that it would fit on the right side of the tailcone (the strobe power supply will be on the left) and used the ELT base plate as a template to drill the holes for the mounting screws. Then I used screws into K-1000 nutplates to drill the rivet holes. Next, they were dimpled, as well as the nutplates, and the nutplates riveted to the mounting plate. The second picture shows the completed mount and the third shows its locaiton in the tailcone, though it has not been drilled yet.
